For churches & ministries
Text your congregation without a group chat
Announcements, prayer requests, and reminders go out as personal texts from the pastor's or coordinator's own number. Replies come only to you.
The group chat problem
"My pastor sent a text to all the church members and asked them not to respond… Guess what they're in the group text doing."
When you text your whole congregation as a group, everyone sees everyone else's number. One "Amen!" becomes 47 notifications. People mute the thread—and miss your next announcement.
Sent It fixes this. Each member gets their own private text from you. No exposed numbers. No reply-all chaos. Just clear communication that feels personal because it is.
Your number vs. church platforms
Sent It
Personal texting from your phone
- Messages come from your real phone number
- Recipients see "Pastor Mike" not "12345"
- Replies start a private conversation with you
- Works with people you already have numbers for
- You tap send—it's really you
Best for: small to mid-size churches, youth groups, ministry teams, and leaders who value personal connection.
Church platforms
Dedicated church communication services
- Messages come from a shared short code
- Keyword opt-in ("Text CHURCH to 12345")
- Automated sequences and reminders
- Dashboard analytics and reporting
- Ongoing fees
Best for: large churches needing automation, opt-in campaigns, and centralized management.

Sending responsibly
- Keep it to about 200 texts per day. Carriers watch for unusual patterns. For a 400-person congregation, split sends across days or have multiple leaders coordinate.
- Only text people who've given you their number. This isn't for cold outreach—it's for your existing congregation and visitors who've signed a connection card.
- You tap send for each message by default. iPhone requires your approval. For larger sends, the iOS Shortcut option lets you batch-confirm more quickly.
- Respect youth safeguarding policies. Include parents on youth communications. Never text minors one-on-one without appropriate oversight.
Questions from church leaders
How many people can I text?
We recommend keeping sends to about 200 per day. For a larger congregation, split your list across days or coordinate with other leaders. This keeps your messages from being flagged as spam by carriers.
Can another church leader send messages?
Each leader uses Sent It on their own phone with their own number. This keeps messages personal—your congregation knows who's texting them.
Can I include photos?
Yes. Attach images to your messages—event flyers, service photos, or anything you'd normally send in a text.
Will members know I used an app?
No. Each person receives a standard one-to-one text from your phone number. It looks exactly like you typed it just for them.
What about youth ministry?
For youth communication, follow your church's safeguarding policies. Include parents on youth communications and never text minors one-on-one without parental visibility.
